Cardboard Throwdown 2019

Cardboard Throwdown is back and better than ever!

Wait a minute, I know what some of you are thinking. We did that…once. Isn’t it “like us” to never do it again? Well, Susan, part of growing up is learning that it’s okay to do something more than once. I dare say, people even like it. We just turned 17 (woohoo!) and while those awkward teenage years aren’t quite behind us, it’s time we start acting like the young adult we’re dying to be. So yes, after a two-year hiatus, we’re throwing down some cardboard once again.

Now that that’s out of our system, let’s talk details! We’re taking it back to elementary school with the five W’s: Who, What, When, Where, and of course, Why?

Who

Anyone who enjoys a watching a movie. Do you have to have kids to come? Nope. Can you bring kids? Yup. Can you invite non-Well friends? Absolutely. Can you drop your kids off into the loving and capable hands of our kids team? Sorry. While we adore your kiddos, flattery will get you nowhere. All kids must be with a parent or guardian.

What

A drive-in style movie night where you bring your best homemade cardboard car to watch the movie in. This year we’ll be showing Toy Story 3, and the Popcorn Bar 2.0 will have more goodies than a daycare has broken toys. As for what you should build, in the past we’ve seen Jeeps, tanks, busses and rumor has it there’s already a submarine in the works!

There will be prizes awarded for the best “car” in the following categories: Preschool (birth-5 years) and Elementary (kindergarten-third grade) with adult help, and 415 without adult help. We want to encourage our preteens to build their car with a friend, their Life Group or even on their own!

When and Where

  • Friday, March 22
  • 6:00pm-8:30pm (Doors open at 5:30pm)
  • North Campus: Sanctuary

Why

Because it’s fun! Not only that, but we want to provide a space where families can take a night to slow down and enjoy being together. This is a completely casual event where we’ll provide the drinks, snacks and hopefully a little fun. Grab some Chick-fil-A to share with a friend, or eat at home before the show. Either way, we’ll see you at the Throwdown!
