Controller- Part-Time (25 hrs/week)
Position Overview:
This role will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Finance department responsible for the processes, internal controls, and financial statement preparation. Ensures processes and internal controls to meet ministry and operational needs are in place and maintained. Pursue improvements and innovations for the Finance department. Oversees the budget. Support HR Director in payroll review. The estimated pay range for this position is $38.00 - $43.00/hour.
Primary Position Responsibilities:
- Leadership, oversight, and support of accountants
- Manage the budgeting function by monthly review and administrate the annual budget process
- Implement the financial process and controls to meet ongoing operational and ministry needs
- Oversight and leadership of month-end closing process
- Prepare monthly financial statements/reports
- Implementation and oversight for Finance policies and procedures
- Supervise annual audit preparation
- Consultative conversations and projects with ministry department directors regarding financial and strategic matters (as needed)
- Housing allowance administration oversight
- Payroll processing review (2x per month)
- Finance software tool recommendations, implementation, establishing procedures, training
- Capital campaign administration
- Supervise accounting processes including month-end close (review, reconciliations, and reporting)
- Review weekly accounts payable, weekly deposits, monthly bank reconciliations, and credit card reconciliation
- Oversee preparation of regulatory and tax filings including: Sales/Use tax (quarterly), property tax (annually), property tax exemption filings, and other regulatory filings (as needed)
- Oversee first-time giver letter process
- Oversight and administration of donation letters/receipts (at least mid-year and year-end) and periodic campaign update letters
- Finance staff team development by doing performance reviews and meetings
- Oversight of counting processes and counting team
- Oversight of collecting processes and collecting team
- Administration of financial software access/usage (i.e. Square, Credit Card, Bill, etc)
Qualifications:
- Exhibits personal faith in Jesus Christ
- Passionate and enthusiastic about the values and mission of The Well Community Church
- Bachelor’s in Accounting
- 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial management experience, preferably in public accounting
- Strong background in GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Prior experience in auditing, budgeting, and financial analysis
