Internship 2011–2012
Purpose
It is our goal to provide you with exposure into the inner workings of The Well, to explain the philosophy behind what we do, and to help you realize your place in ministry. We hope to give you a 30,000-foot view of the church, as well as hands-on opportunities in ministry.
It is possible to experience the Internship and come to the realization that full-time ministry is not for you. That can be exciting because you are gaining more clarity on the future God has for you and how He designed you to fulfill your purpose in life.
If you have the desire and time to continue on after the Internship, you can apply to become part of The Well’s volunteer staff in a specific area of ministry. Completion of the Internship is a requirement for becoming part of the volunteer staff. It is possible, with the approval of your Ministry Director, to complete the Internship during the first nine months of your volunteer staff position.
Time Considerations
The Internship is a nine-month program. We understand interns usually have work and school outside of the program, so we have created a program that can flex with your schedule. There will be a mixture of both video training and live interaction so each intern can finish the Internship around his/her own schedule.
The program runs from September through May with a week off for Thanksgiving, three weeks off for Christmas and one week off for Spring Break.
General Internship Requirements
During your nine months, you will be exposed to every ministry of the church, and have the opportunity to experience a focus area in depth.
Requirements include:
- Viewing the Staff Development videos
- Participating in the experiences set by your Director
- Attending Discovery
- Taking the Your Unique Design profile
- Choosing a focus area
Focus Area
Applicants for the Internship Program must select a ministry focus area from the list below. You will be assigned a Director for the focus area you choose. Each Director decides how much time they can devote to a mentor-type relationship and how many interns they will work with each ministry year.
Your Director will become the point person for your specific ministry area, give you a general overview of The Well, and determine what material will be covered, the meeting schedule, and the number of hours required.
Focus Area Choices
- Campus Pastor
- Connections
- Equipping
- Kids Connection
- Missions
- Operations
- Spiritual Formation
- Well Student Ministries (WSM)
- Worship
Entry Requirements
You must be a high school graduate or have your GED.
Application Process
On this page is a link to the application and reference forms. The application needs to be filled out in its entirety and returned along with two references. Give the reference forms to individuals who have known you for two years or more and can adequately speak to your character. We prefer that you submit one pastoral reference and one personal, non-relative reference.
Once your reference forms have been completed and returned to you in a signed and sealed envelope, return them, along with your application, to the Equipping Department at The Well office. Consideration of your application will be given only when 100% of your information has been turned in.
An interview will be scheduled after all application materials are received.
Thank you for your interest in The Well's Internship program.
