Internship Program

I am so excited that you are interested in being a part of our Internship Program. I believe that this program will not only be an insightful and enriching time for you personally, but I think you may be surprised to find it to be really fun as well. On the pages that follow you will find an application as well as a reference forms for the upcoming Internship. The application will need to be filled out in its entirety and returned to me along with two references. Please give the reference forms to individuals who have known you for two years or more and can adequately speak to your character. I would prefer one personal, non-relative, and one pastoral reference. Once your reference forms have been completed and returned to you in a signed and sealed envelope, return them to me along with your application. I will consider your application only when 100% of your information has been turned in.

I would like the application and reference forms back no later than August 20, 2010. I will inform those selected to take part as soon as possible.

Due to space limitations and a desire to balance guys and girls as much as possible, we will need to limit the class size. Please know and understand that we will not be able to accept everyone that wishes to be a part of this internship. We plan on offering this internship every Fall and Spring semester, so if this semester does not work out for you, Lord willing, there will be future opportunities. Thanks for your interest in the Well's Internship Program.

Purpose:

We do ministry a little differently here at the Well and our Internship Program will be no exception. We've seen many programs with great intentions, yet end up falling short of what an intern really needs. Though the purpose of an internship is to provide an intern with hands on experience, the only thing they typically get their hands on is their boss' cup of coffee and a handful of dry cleaning. We'd like to change that.

It is our goal to provide you with exposure into the inner workings of The Well, to provide teaching on the philosophy behind what we do, and to help you realize your place in ministry. It's our desire to pull back the curtain and show you Oz, as unimpressive as it may be, with the goal ultimately being to equip the saints for ministry. If you have ever thought a future in full-time ministry is for you, the internship will help give guidance to those thoughts.

Here's how the program works: we're going to have two different internship tracks: General and Specific. Think of it like college - the general internship will be like your undergraduate classes: high exposure over a vast amount of subjects that everyone must complete regardless of degree before moving on. After you've taken all your general classes, then you move on to classes unique to your major. This is what our specific track will entail. Available to anyone who has completed our general track, you will now be able to declare a major and spend time in one specific ministry over the course of a semester. Our hope is to give our interns a 30,000 foot view of the church in the General Track followed by invaluable ministry-specific training in the Specific track. It is possible to experience the general internship and come to the realization that full time ministry is not for you. For us that is wonderful. Wonderful because you are gaining more clarity on the future God has for you and what particular giftings you posses to fulfill your purpose in life.

Time Considerations

This General Track is a 12-week internship that will demand 10 hours/week of your time. We understand interns may have work and school outside of the program. If you must miss some of the hours outside of the set office hours for work or school, on occasion, we understand. Part of the ministry experience cannot be taught in the office, it is to the intern’s benefit to participate as much as is possible.

If you desire to continue on to our Specific track, details will be worked out on an individual basis with the Equipping Director and your Ministry Director.

Financial Considerations

Though this is an unpaid internship, The Well will allow an intern to raise support for either track of the Internship. If that is of interest to you, please contact the Business Administrator for more details.

Calendar

The Internship will generally run in the fall from September through mid-December with a week off for Thanksgiving and it will run in spring from February though mid-May with a week off for spring break. There are some Specific Track internships in the summer.

Rotation

During your 12 weeks you will be rotating around through different ministries in order to get a feel for ministry in every area of the church.

You will have two-week sessions with our:
