Position Overview

The Local Missions Pastor plans, organizes, and executes community outreach and service projects through the church and via Life Groups. This person is focused on building local partnerships, recruiting and training volunteers, managing budgets and logistics for events (serve days and trainings), and acts as a liaison between the church, local partners, local Extended Family, local interns, and participants to ensure alignment with the organization's mission and values. The estimated pay range for this position is $70,000- $75,000/yr

Primary Position Responsibilities

  • Actively help people connect to God and to each other in every neighborhood
  • Adhere to and live out The Well’s Statement of Faith
  • Shepherd and disciple Life Groups, individuals, and organizational staff
  • Guide Life Groups to actively engage in mission and service within the city
  • Provide ongoing pastoral care through personal follow-up, one-on-one encouragement, gentle correction, and intentional discipleship to help group members, individuals, and staff grow toward maturity in Christ
  • Build connections through teaching and preaching in the city
  • Teach or preach in local churches, organizations, or community settings to foster relationships and share the gospel
  • Invite and involve other staff members in these teaching opportunities to strengthen citywide partnerships and ministry connections
  • Address root needs in our community and inviting Life Groups to participate

  • Strategy & Development: Set vision and strategy for local outreach, identifying new opportunities and developing initiatives that serve the Fresno community
  • Partnership Management: Build and maintain relationships with local Extended Family, partners, and interns
  • Volunteer Engagement: Recruit, train, equip, and support volunteers and team leaders for mission activities and events
  • Logistics & Operations: Manage event planning, scheduling, room bookings, budgets, purchase orders, and supplies for local projects
  • Communication: Promote mission opportunities through church communications (bulletins, social media, newsletters) and provides updates to leadership and volunteers
  • Reporting: Track participation, project success, and budget adherence, reporting on activities to the Missions Director
  • Team: Work across departments (Campus Pastors, communication, facilities, and Life Groups) to create successful outcomes focusing on collaboration, individual accountability, and measurable results
  • Missions VLA Intern: Integrate intern(s) into the local Missions program, focusing on their training, development, and practical experience


Qualifications

  • Has a love for God and exhibits personal faith in Jesus Christ
  • Passionate and enthusiastic about the values and mission of The Well Community Church
  • An organized person with high capacity for tasks and relationships; a builder who is creatively driven both missionally and administratively
  • Possesses strong relational, communicative, and team-building skills while maintaining an attitude of love and grace toward people
  • Ability to navigate online platforms, such as Google Drive and project management software
