Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I check my kids in?

At the check-in station, you will be asked to provide a number for a cell phone you have in your possession. Both you and your child will receive check-in tags specifically created for each child. To ensure their security, your child will not be released without presenting your corresponding tag.

If we need to contact you during the service, we will send you a text message. (Remember to leave your cell phone on vibrate/silence during the service.) If your child has difficulty acclimating or experiences separation anxiety, our leaders will immediately soothe your child. If your child is unhappy for an extended period, we will text you.

  • What process do volunteers go through to serve?

We have a thorough screening process to ensure the safest and most intentional environments for your child. All volunteers and staff (paid and unpaid) are fingerprinted and background-checked with LiveScan in conjunction with the California Department of Justice. They have also completed an application and personal interview, and are trained to work with the kids in their assigned age group.

  • Why are there cameras in the classrooms?

In order to provide the safest environment for all children and staff, along with full transparency of what takes place during a gathering, we have outfitted every classroom with a security camera. These cameras do not record sound, and under no circumstances do they collect footage used in production material.

  • What are Life Groups?

Life Groups are what we call our small groups. We believe true spiritual life change happens best in relationships rather than in rows. Therefore, we create intentional environments for age-specific Life Groups, even from the early age of 2.

  • What do you mean when you say Large Group/Life Group?

We want to engage every child where they are at with the best teachers, worship experience and fun. This happens in our Large Group settings.

However, we believe the real impact happens through relationships. Therefore, we place students into small groups, known as Life Groups, where they apply the week’s lesson through fun, age-appropriate activities, and discussion with a loving and caring leader. Our desire is for the church to be the second loudest voice in every child’s life, next to their parents.

  • What curriculum do you use?

Orange’s First Look for preschool and 252 Basics for elementary.

  • What is your well-child policy?

We operate a well-child environment. For the protection of all the children in our ministry, we cannot accept a child with a runny nose, fresh cold (four days or less), fever, rash, persistent cough, diarrhea or any other signs of illness. We request that you not place your child in the program while they are at risk of exposing other children.

  • Are snacks available for my child?

Our Kids Ministry is a peanut-free environment. Snacks are provided for your child once they graduate to the Crawler classroom. The snacks consist of Cheerios for Crawlers, and Goldfish, animal crackers and pretzels for Walkers through 5 year olds. Please inform the leader if your child has an allergy to any of these snacks.

  • What do I need to bring with me for my baby?

    • Two disposable diapers or pull-ups. No cloth diapers, please.
    • A pacifier, lovey or other comfort item.
    • A complete change of clothes, including a sweater or jacket in cool weather. We may take our 2 year olds to the outdoor playground, depending on the campus you attend.
    • A bottle or cup of milk, formula, juice or water (even for mothers who nurse).

Please label all personal items with your child's first and last name before arriving at their class. For their safety, all children 2 years old and up must wear shoes.

  • Does The Well do infant Baptisms or dedications?

We don’t do infant Baptisms, but we do celebrate child dedications in homes in the context of Life Groups or other family gatherings. Learn more or schedule a dedication on the Child Dedications page.

  • What does The Well do for families with new children?

We have a team of people who bring meals to new moms and families. If you would like to receive meals, contact
