Common Questions

• What are the ages for Soccer?

  We will have two age divisions: one for 3&4-year-olds and another for 5&6-year-olds. Both divisions are Co-Ed.

• Can my 2-year-old play?!

  We will allow 2-year-olds to participate IF THEY TURN 3-years-old during the season. (The last game is on Saturday, Oct 31st - Championship Saturday.)

• Do we have to attend The Well to Play?

  No, the invitation to join The Well Athletics ministry is open to anyone in the community. We come alongside families to make sports more than a game.

• Where are the games played?

  The games take place at the Clovis Campus Athletics Field on Saturday mornings at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., and 11 a.m. In previous seasons, the 3/4 division was scheduled at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., while the 5/6 division played at 11 a.m. We will do our best to maintain this schedule. Additionally, teams will likely play at the same time every Saturday.

• When are the practices held?

  The practices are held at the Clovis Campus Athletics Field during the week. Once the team rosters are finalized, the coaches will determine the practice day and time, which is usually 530pm-615pm.

• When do practices and games start?

  Practices start in the first week of September. Opening Day Clinic is on September 12th, with team photos & a clinic. Season games begin September 19th. 

• How long is the season?

  Nine weeks total. We will have eight weeks of games on Saturday mornings. (Any Rain-out Saturdays will not be made up.) After you are assigned a team, your coach will determine what time your practice is. Games and practices last roughly 45 minutes.

• When is picture day?

  We've scheduled picture day for Stars Opening Weekend: Saturday, September 12th. The official schedule will be sent out once the season starts. Players will have their individual picture taken, along with a team photo. Families will receive a digital copy towards the end of the soccer season. Printed photos are not included. 

• What's the cost?

  Regular registration (June/July) costs $110. An early bird discount is automatically applied if you register before June 1st. A late fee of $10 will be added to all August registrations. The last day to register is August 16th, 2026. 

• What soccer gear is included with registration?

  Each player will receive a jersey, black shorts, and a medal. Plus, memories that will last a lifetime! 

• Can we make teammate requests?

  Since we've changed the way we handle registration, we're encouraging families who want to play together to coordinate ahead of time and register for the same team.

• How many players are on each team?

  The number of players on each team varies depending on the age group, teammate requests, and the availability of coaches. Generally, it ranges from 14 to 16 players with 3 to 4 coaches as well. 

• Can we request a practice night of the week?

  Each team has a pre-selected practice day already assigned. We recommend choosing a team that practices on a night that you're available. 

• What is your refund policy?

  No refunds are given after 9/1/26.

• Can my child play up a division?

  We typically don't do play-ups (or play-downs) for the kids' safety. However, if players want to play in an older division, their registration must be pre-approved by the Stars staff. The player will also need to be evaluated. 

• What balls will we be playing with?

  We will be using size three soccer balls.  There will be balls available, but you can purchase your own! Make sure to put your name on it.

• Does my player need cleats or shin guards?

  Yes, players should wear cleats and shin guards! Shin guards are highly recommended, and cleats are encouraged—no Crocs or Sandals. Don't forget the high socks. Check with your coach on color.

• How can I become a coach?

  We are always seeking additional coaches. Our goal is to have 2-4 coaches per team. All coaches are fingerprinted and interviewed by the Athletics Director. To start the process, please visit our Serve page or email wellathletics@thewellcommunity.org.
