Common Questions

• What are the ages for Soccer?

  We will have two age divisions: one for 3&4-year-olds and another for 5&6-year-olds. Both divisions are Co-Ed.

• Can my 2-year-old play?!

  We will allow 2-year-olds to participate IF THEY TURN 3-years-old during the season. (The last game is on Saturday, Oct 25th - Championship Saturday.)

• Do we have to attend The Well to Play?

  No, the invitation to join The Well Athletics ministry is open to anyone in the community. We come alongside families to make sports more than a game.

• Where are the games played?

  The games take place at the Clovis Campus Athletics Field on Saturday mornings at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., and 11 a.m. In previous seasons, the 3/4 division was scheduled at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., while the 5/6 division played at 11 a.m. We will do our best to maintain this schedule. Additionally, teams will likely play at the same time every Saturday.

• When are the practices held?

  The practices are held at the Clovis Campus Athletics Field during the week. Once the team rosters are finalized, the coaches will determine the practice day and time, which is usually 530pm-615pm.

• When do practices and games start?

  Practices start in the first week of September. The Opening Day Clinic is on September 5th. Season games begin September 12th. 

• How long is the season?

  Nine weeks total. We will have eight weeks of games on Saturday mornings. (Any Rain-out Saturdays will not be made up.) After you are assigned a team, your coach will determine a once-a-week practice day and time.  Games and practices last roughly 45 minutes.

• What's the cost?

  The Cost is $100. Registration closes on August 17th at 8am. Depending on the numbers, we will reopen registration with a late registration fee of $20. 

• What Soccer gear is included with registration?

  Each Player will receive a Jersey, black shorts, and a medal. Plus, memories that will last a lifetime! 

• Can we request teammates or coaches?

  Families can request coaches and friends to enhance their social experience during registration. We will make every effort to accommodate these requests.

  
  

  
  

• How many players are on each team?

  The number of players on each team varies depending on the age group, teammate requests, and the availability of coaches. Generally, it ranges from 10 to 14 players with 2 to 4 coaches as well. 

  
  

• Can we request a practice night of the week?

  During registration, you can request practice nights that are best for your family. We will do our best to accommodate those requests.

• What is your refund policy?

  No Refunds are given after 9/1/26.

• Can my child play up a division?

  We typically don't do play-ups (or play-downs) for the kids' safety. However, if players want to play in an older division, their registration must be pre-approved by the Stars staff. The player will also need to be evaluated. 

• What balls will we be playing with?

  We will be using size three soccer balls.  There will be balls available, but you can purchase your own! 

• Does my player need cleats or shin guards?

  Yes, players should wear cleats and shin guards! Shin guards are highly recommended, and cleats are encouraged—no Crocs or Sandals. Don't forget the high socks. Check with your coach on color.

• Is there a sports picture day?

  No, we do not hold a “sports picture day” for any Stars' seasons. Coaches and parents can work together to choose a suitable date and time for their teams to take team and/or individual photos if they want to, independently.

• How can I become a coach?

  We are always seeking additional coaches. Our goal is to have 2-4 coaches per team. All coaches are fingerprinted and interviewed by the Athletics Director. To start the process, please visit our Serve page or email wellathletics@thewellcommunity.org.
