Throughout the book of John, Jesus compares something physical to something spiritual. By saying "I am the bread of life," Jesus lets the crowd know He can provide so much more than just physical bread. Jesus is the satisfier and sustainer of life, and we must turn toward Him in every situation. Unfortunately, we aren't too different than these crowds. We tend to turn toward everything else but Jesus, when ultimately Jesus is all we need.
