November is here and all around it's starting to look a lot more like the holiday season. We want to keep pushing you as individuals, families or Life Groups to think about the way you engage the next few months.
This month's big holiday is Thanksgiving and there are tremendous opportunities in the city to help make that day a blessing to someone. There are also many other opportunities to consider in making November a marked month for Seasons of Compassion.
Here are some ideas:
Intentional Blessing
Keyword = food.
Many people in this city lack food and many families struggle during this season for food. Keep your eyes and ears open to find ways to donate food to those around you. A little extra money spent at the grocery store can go a long way.
Black Friday is coming. Don't just stand in line. Bless those around you. As you purchase a peppermint mocha to stay warm, why not purchase two and bless someone in line? Who knows where the conversation may go?
Culturally Engaged
Voting could be an option this moth, depending on where you live. Get the vote out!
Poverello House could use volunteers to help their mission.
Clothing can be an issue for people as it gets colder. Host a jacket drive or work with ministries in town to keep people warm.
Inclusive Community
Many people don't have family to go home to or can't travel due to a variety of reasons. Invite them into your home for the holidays.
Football reigns for some people. Maybe your neighbor won't come to a church service with you but you can cheer on your favorite team together in your living room. When they come, find time to make meaningful conversations. Get to know them.
