After pounding away at the fact that true faith must show itself through the works of a believer- James now speaks to the source by which that happens. This text is essentially asking the question "By what wisdom do you live your life by... God's or your own?" To the one who's life is lived by the Wisdom of God, it will evidence itself through your actions. To the one who lives their life by their own wisdom, it will lead to disorder and confusion.
