Before I update our “Happenings in Haiti,” I would like to send a quick shoutout to my bride Pamela. “Happy anniversary my love - #23!” I am looking forward to growing old with you and seeing what the Lord will do in our lives and in our marriage.

Speaking of brides, it seems fitting to think about another bride that is described in the Bible – the bride of Christ. In Revelation 5:9-10 and Revelation 7:9, the bride of Christ is described as consisting of people from every tribe, every language, every people and every nation. These verses paint a picture of a beautifully diverse multitude of people.

We have been witnessing a vibrant ministry here in Pignon with Christian Friendship Ministries (CFM). On Saturday afternoon, the local church concluded a men’s conference that lasted for three days. Our team was so blessed to have been able to participate in this conference, and it made a deep impact on each of our members. That evening we showed the Jesus film in their language of French Creole as an evangelistic outreach. On Sunday we joined the church in their worship service and Chris Schultz delivered the message from Luke 15 about the prodigal son. We have witnessed ministry to the widows and orphans along with discipleship programs too.

Today we started a service project to replace the roof at an outstation. Outstations are basically churches without walls (similar to a lean-to shelter) in remote areas outside of Pignon so believers in that area can gather for mid-week Bible studies and church services. Another way to describe an outstation is that they are simple structures that allow Haitian life groups to gather.

As we were driving away from the outstation this afternoon, Tanner our CFM director, stopped the truck and pointed out a home that had colored flags flying above it. He noted the flags indicated a witch doctor lived there so others would know his services would be available. Even though Haiti is a country that has a storied history of voodoo worship, rest assured, the Bride of Christ is alive and well and ministry in Pignon is flourishing.
