This morning we had devotional and worship at 9 am and after headed to church, which was a short walk away. Church was led by pastor Milton Rojas. The service started by welcoming Jeff and all of us from Students International. Then everyone who had a birthday in the month of June was called to the front of the stage and the congregation sang happy birthday to everyone. We then sang about 5 worship songs, all of which were in Spanish. Two of the songs we recognized as How Great is Our God and Blessed is The Name of The Lord. The sermon discussed the importance of relationships with your family. It also talked about the importance of your relationship with God and the sacrifices we have to make at times. Even though the sermon was in Spanish and it was difficult to understand you could still feel the Pastor's passion and love for The Lord when he spoke. It was a really cool experience to go to church in a different culture.

After church we came back the to SI office. We had lunch and watched the Costa Rica vs. Greece World Cup game. It was an amazing game to watch together because the game really came down to the wire! Costa Rica was the first to score with a goal seven minutes into the second half. Unfortunately Greece scored to tie the game in the forty fifth minute of the second half. After 90 minutes of play the game was still tied 1-1. The two teams then played 15 minutes of sudden death. The first and second both ended with no score so the game went to penalty kicks. Costa Rica won by making their fifth penalty kick! We watched the game with a lot of Costa Ricans and they were ecstatic! After the game the streets were filled with cheering and celebrating! There was so much national pride! It was definitely an amazing experience to be in Costa Rica during the World Cup!
