There was major division in the Corinthian church because the people of Corinth distanced themselves from the exclusive doctrine of Christ alone. Paul admonishes them and cautions those who would follow in the footsteps of false teachers. We have also allowed human wisdom to shape the Gospel. No longer are churches seedbeds of truth and safe havens for the proclamation of the Gospel. Instead, we have become self-help groups, philanthropic organizations, religious institutions, and support networks for every prevailing issue. There is no foundation but Christ and we would be wise to take heed that this foundation is never compromised.
