Writing to Christians who find themselves exiles and aliens suffering for Christ in this present world, Peter has encouraged us to stand firm in the grace provided for us through the gospel of Jesus Christ. In this text, Peter now shows how the grace that helps sustain us through suffering and trials is also the same grace that helps us live distinct and holy in a darkened world. We are challenged to live lives of total surrender to Jesus Christ, set apart by grace and for grace.
